"If you ladies leave my island, if you survive recruit training, you will be a weapon. You will be a minister of death praying for war. But until that day you are pukes. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even human, fucking beings. You are nothing but unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit. Because I am hard you will not like me. But the more you hate me the more you will learn. I am hard but I am fair. There is no racial bigotry here. I do not look down on niggers, kikes, wops or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless. And my orders are to weed out all non-hackers who do not pack the gear to serve in my beloved Corps. Do you maggots understand that?"

- Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, Full Metal Jacket.

I watched this much loved Stanley Kubrick's movie for the first time today.

favorite phrase from the quote above: "unorganized grabastic pieces of amphibian shit"

It made me go, " HUWHATTTTTTTT??" Whoever made that up is a different kind of genius but still a genius (in my book). Try saying "pieces of amphibian shit" out loud ala the sergeant in the movie. It's hard not to laugh, especially if you say it repeatedly. I think it's the word amphibian that makes me sound so lame and unconvincing when I say it.

Full Metal Jacket isn't the kind of war movies I like but I think the first half of it was impressive.

Everyone's feeling fat and probably got fatter too post-party.
There was too much food/snack to finish.
I've polished mine clean off the plates/jars/wrappers.

It's a good thing to know I haven't lost my appetite after watching a butcher skin half a dozen frogs at a bullfrog farm.
It was a great experience. I recommend everyone to visit animal farms when they have the time. hehehe.
Drink fresh goat milk flavored with a little hazelnut. Eat boiled quail eggs with table salt.
Pass the frog farm. It's nasty business there.
But I've never felt more alive than when I was surrounded by so many non-human living things.
I'm reminiscing again here. I miss it.
The only farms I've seen around here are cow farms but I'm sure there are more and they should be cleaner too....here.
:)

BY THE WAY,

Do you know how much I love this show (the picture above) ?

*bats eyelashes*
LOVEit.

Also: downloading torrents for The Thin Red Line and Mystic River. Hi, Sean Penn.

I bought a brand new lomo fisheye camera for only $10 from Urban Outfitters. How awesome is that?

Economic downturn is great for those who are seemingly unaffected by it. I said seemingly because in reality, I'm indirectly affected by it.
-sigh-
This is not an era for high-school-graduate-earns-hundreds-thousands-per-year anymore.
What good is a college degree if you can't earn more than what a high school graduate makes, right?
College experience? They have non-college experience you miss out on.
Both learn different life lessons but ultimately, what matters is being able to provide better for their future generations.
As my cousin said, "in the end, only money talks."
"If you have money, you'll have opportunities to search for love, happiness. You may not be able to buy happiness but your chances are better when you have Papa Gold behind you. Even if you're ugly, people will think you're alright." <-- which is, sadly, very true.
"Love? Are you going to feed your children with love? You need food. and school uniforms, and textbooks. Don't think about love and children if you don't have money."
"The best is home. Look at your brother. He wakes up at 12 every day. He's not afraid of recession. His backing is strong." <-- obviously sarcastic.
"What the internship pays doesn't even cover your plane ticket. So do you know the value of a dollar now?" (not directed at me)
"Being poor turns some people nasty. There are exceptions, yes. But in general, it's easier to be nice when you have money to burn."

they painted a cutthroat world. a world that undeniably exists because I know people whose lives spiraled down from loss of wealth and people who bought new lives with their fortunes. a world that is telling me to stop daydreaming and enjoying every beautiful thing for what it is because I'm not responsible for only myself. I have responsibilities and therefore I have to be practical. And being practical means I have to remember what my cousin told me and do as told.

HUH?

The last time I saw this type of online quiz advert, the face was Paris Hilton's and it said her IQ is 117
so...Robert Pattinson's IQ is only 2 points higher than Paris' ?

D:

I doubt any of these results are real though.

The Best Is Yet To Come by Frank Sinatra
(download)

Nothing brings back nostalgia like a good oldie.

Slumdog Millionaire received mixed reviews from audience and critics alike but I guess I'll watch it anyway.
I grew up watching Bollywood movies and telenovelas.
In fact, for years and years, my top idol was Thalia :D
It's partly influenced by my mom's repeated assertion that Thalia is as close to perfection as a woman can ever be.
Until she married Tommy Mottola. hahaha.

The song is not related to my random thoughts above in any way except that both help me to reminisce my past :)
good times.

I did some online personality tests to kill time and one of them described me as such:

SPONTANEOUS IDEALIST are creative, lively and open-minded persons. They are humorous and dispose of a contagious zest for life. Their enthusiasm and sparkling energy inspires others and sweeps them along. They enjoy being together with other people and often have an uncanny intuition for their motivations and potential. Spontaneous Idealists are masters of communication and very amusing and gifted entertainers. Fun and variety are guaranteed when they are around. However, they are sometimes somewhat too impulsive in dealing with others and can hurt people without really meaning to do so, due to their direct and sometimes critical nature.

This personality type is a keen and alert observer; they miss nothing which is going on around them. In extreme cases, they tend to be oversensitive and exaggeratedly alert and are inwardly always ready to jump. Life for them is an exciting drama full of emotionality. However, they quickly become bored when things repeat themselves and too much detailed work and care is required. Their creativity, their imaginativeness and their originality become most noticeable when developing new projects and ideas - they then leave the meticulous implementation of the whole to others. On the whole, Spontaneous Idealists attach great value to their inner and outward independence and do not like accepting a subordinate role. They therefore have problems with hierarchies and authorities.

If you have a Spontaneous Idealist as your friend, you will never be bored; with them, you can enjoy life to the full and celebrate the best parties. At the same time, they are warm, sensitive, attentive and always willing to help. If Spontaneous Idealists have just fallen in love, the sky is full of violins and their new partners are showered with attention and affection. This type then bubbles over with charm, tenderness and imagination. But, unfortunately, it soon becomes boring for them once the novelty has worn off. Boring everyday life in a partnership is not for them so that many Spontaneous Idealists slip from one affair into another. However, should the partner manage to keep their curiosity alive and not let routine and familiarity gain the upper hand, Spontaneous Idealists can be inspiring and loving partners.

Adjectives which describe your type
spontaneous, enthusiastic, idealistic, extroverted, theoretical, emotional, relaxed, friendly, optimistic, charming, helpful, independent, individualistic, creative, dynamic, lively, humorous, full of zest for life, imaginative, changeable, adaptable, loyal, sensitive, inspiring, sociable, communicative, erratic, curious, open, vulnerable

from ipersonic.com

My dad said I'm oversensitive but he didn't tell me this. He told my mom and my mom told me. And I have the attention span of a gnat. This is well said: "it soon becomes boring for them once the novelty has worn off" (quoted from above and applies to almost everything in my life).

I don't know how accurate this result is even though it is similar to the results of numerous tests I've taken before. After all, I only answered a few questions before this conclusion is determined. My Myers-Briggs type is ENTP. What's yours?

Happy Lunar New Year to those celebrating it!

I'm watching BBC tv series Coupling as I'm typing this - on demand, of course, because I don't subscribe to BBC America.

Everything is normal and peaceful for lil ol' me in LA except I just received news that my best friend might be pregnant. If she is, she'll have no choice but to abort it. I don't think she'll choose any other way but I'm just worried that in the off chance she considers keeping the baby (if she is really pregnant), her life will be ruined. She still clings to a sliver of hope to be back together with her ex even though they had a very, terribly, scandalized break-up sometime ago and neither party is ready to commit anytime soon. Party scene in Europe seems to be a lot more low-profile and less ridiculous than the ones in LA, so everyone there made a drama out of my best friend's relationship problems since she's what one would call a queen bee. If I were there, I'd have kicked their asses. Let's just hope this is just a case of late period. :(

While eating five trays of dumplings with a friend several weeks ago, he told me that by not having a facebook account, he avoided a lot of potential drama. He explained that such an account is unnecessary and its existence may compromise his future business plans. Besides, he always catches up with people who really matter to him in real life so an online social network account is lame. I don't wholly agree with him but I see his point. In fact, I've not used FB for sometime now and have set all my photos to private because I was too lazy to create filter groups of who can see which pictures. Then it got me thinking, the average Facebook user owns a handful of other social network accounts such as Twitter, Plurk, Friendster, Hi5, Multiply, Myspace, et cetera, and I wonder what would happen to these accounts if the user dies in an accident. Imagine how that will affect the friends linked to the dead person's accounts. I think a seriously ill man would delete these accounts but keep a blog to update his conditions but what about a man who wasn't expecting his death? So is it better to have such accounts or not? After all, a lot of users abandon their accounts altogether or moved on to newer sites after a few years. If I were dead, I wouldn't want acquaintances to look through my online pictures or anything of the sort but I haven't found enough reason or certainty to make me delete my accounts. I think I'll just keep and set them to private for now.

Anyway, I started watching Pushing Daisies yesterday and I have to say, the storybook quality of the production is absolutely lovely. It kinda reminds me of FFVII world so it's a shame that Season 1 only finished wrapping till 9th episode, short of 4 from the original 13-episodes set. Oh well, this series is keeping me busy enough from thinking about helpless real life problems going on right now (ahhhh).

friends. or are they?

It is a nuisance when friend A keeps saying "I love you" to friend B when friend B doesn't want to have anything to do with friend A.

*strokes imaginary beard*

...

So it is possible being a complete asshole and still have the people he's mean to love him. Benefits drive motives.
